School Bus Safety Week

School Bus Safety Week

It's National School Bus Safety Week, and we are celebrating our LISD bus drivers. Our bus drivers work behind the scenes and always ensure our students have a safe trip to and from school and events. Our team of 35 school bus personnel are committed to ensuring their buses are clean, sanitized, and safe for travel. LISD Director of Transportation Randi Bullard hosted her annual safety classes, treated her transportation staff to a nice meal, and held an awards ceremony to recognize our hard-working bus drivers. Their first priority is keeping kids safe! Levelland Fireman Andy Finsterwald reminded our drivers of the PASS (Pull the pin, Aim low, Squeeze the trigger, and Sweep) Method to put out a fire on or near a bus. Our bus drivers also practiced finding and getting students out of a smoke-filled bus. It was intense and a great lesson! When they aren't training, our bus drivers clean and sanitize their buses and windows while our mechanics perform preventative maintenance and repairs. There is much more to driving a bus than just sitting behind the wheel, and we thank you for that! You're in the right place!
