Our Lobo Band have already had a busy summer! They competed at the UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Austin. The Lobo Band had 5 events competing, 3 ensembles, and 2 soloists. The Brass Quintet earned a rating of Superior and brought home UIL state ensemble medals. Members of that ensemble are Sarahi Munoz, Martin Nieland, Michael Osornio, Chase Pickering, and Christian Wheeler. The Senior Brass Quartet earned a rating of Excellent for their performance. Members are Colbi Barnett, Katie Brackens, Adam Herrera, and Izabela Herrera. The Clarinet Quartet, composed of Kyndle Folger, Israel Gutierrez, Jaclyn Puente, and Sam Young, received an average rating. Two soloists, Eduardo Melendez and Michelle Bustillos qualified for the TSSEC by memorizing a Class 1 solo and they both received average ratings. In addition to competing at TSSEC, students attended tours at the Bullock Texas State History Museum and the Texas State Capitol. Our students learned about Texas history and visited the Texas House of Representatives and Senate Chambers as well as the beauty of the Capitol grounds. Mr. Barry and Mr. Tolentino want to wish all of our state qualifiers a congratulations on earning the chance to compete. The band is now enjoying their trip to Disney World! And you thought summer was for resting! It looks like a few parents are having a good time too! You're in the right place!
