1st Year Teacher Academy

LISD expects excellence in our educators and we take huge pride in our First Year Teacher Academy which other districts don't offer. Throughout the year Christi Peck, Christy Barnett, & Shannon Copeland teach these academies to support our beginning teachers, enabling them to become effective professional teachers, manage their classrooms, and learn creative ways to teach strategies and concepts. Our educators participated in the Mr. PotatoHead activity which taught them that we can't just pick the TEKS standards we want to teach, we have to create a complete curriculum using all the pieces to produce a whole curriculum (head). What a great way to get the point across!
