Upward Bound!

LMS 8th-graders attended an assembly held by Counselor Sommer Coats on the Upward Bound Program. SPC presented the program and handed out materials. Upward Bound provides support in preparation for college entrance. It provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves high school students from low-income families and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. Upward Bound aims to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. Students in the Upward Bound Program get academic instruction in mathematics, laboratory sciences, composition, literature, and foreign languages; while visiting different universities, performing in talent shows, being involved in the community, making new friends, and having fun! This program is an asset for all high-school students. Thank you, Mrs. Coats, for making the road to success easier for your kids.
