Honoring 50 Years of Lobo Pride

What a great day in Levelland ISD! Fifty years ago, in 1975, eleven talented young artists (Donna McLean, Bill Carroll, Margarett Dailey, Sondra Reid, Celia Corbell, Rhonda Toney, Ann Loykasek, Joy Murphey, Elaine McLean, Terri Taylor, and Jackie Jackson) created a beautiful piece of art now known as the Lobo Mosaic. Today, in collaboration with Keep Levelland Beautiful, LISD Maintenance, and many helping hands, we proudly rehung this historic masterpiece at the Central Office, where it can be admired by all. We were honored to have two of the original creators, Margarett Dailey Lockett and Rhonda Toney Bradley, join us for this special event. It was a joy to hear them reminisce about their art class days and the teacher who inspired them five decades ago. A huge thank you goes to Keep Levelland Beautiful for recommending we give this treasured mosaic a new home. This project not only preserves a meaningful piece of our district’s history, but also strengthens our bond with the community and highlights the enduring Lobo pride that defines our culture. We’re also thrilled to contribute to the growing legacy of mosaic artistry through the City of Levelland Mosaic Tour. We are grateful to our incredible LISD Maintenance Crew, whose care and craftsmanship ensured the safe relocation of this cherished artwork. This day marks a celebration of art, community, and history — and a reminder that our future is rooted in honoring our past, and building our future! Video
