Dr. Heseman Addresses LHS Students

Last week, LISD Superintendent Dr. Donald Heseman visited Mr. Hill’s Entrepreneur classes at LHS to speak with students about the teaching profession as a career. He walked them through the financial aspects of becoming a teacher, including salary expectations and the number of contracted workdays, giving students a realistic perspective on the career path. Dr. Heseman also highlighted the benefits of the Teacher Retirement System, explaining that educators automatically pay into it (similar to a savings account), which ensures financial security after retirement. He contrasted this with other industries, where individuals must plan and save independently for their future. He hopes that some students consider the education fields as they learn about careers. It is the most rewarding job that gives back every day! Thank you, Dr. Heseman for shedding light on the teaching profession and all it encompasses.
