LISD Leader Honored

Levelland ISD shares that Public Relations Specialist Cristal Isaacks was honored on Friday at the Levelland Chamber Luncheon as the Keep Levelland Beautiful Hero. Cristal taught at the elementary level for 32 years before taking the PR position. She says, "I truly love my job. Every day is different, and I never tire of covering All Things LISD! I get to witness children learning, teachers engaging students, and the joy of growth across every campus. This position also allows me to work with the Levelland Chamber as Ambassador President. I enjoy leading in this role and getting to know more people in the Levelland Business community, connecting them with the great things happening in Levelland ISD. Through networking and new connections, I’ve grown to appreciate Levelland on an even greater level. I’ve enjoyed participating in ribbon cuttings, supporting local businesses, and celebrating the creativity of our town through art, photography, and community projects. As part of the Keep Levelland Beautiful Education Committee, I’ve had the privilege of teaching students, staff, and community members about caring for our community and keeping it beautiful. I have been actively involved in reaching students on Ag Awareness Day by teaching at this prestigious event, which engages fourth graders from Hockley County in learning about Agriculture and being stewards of the land. I have worked on some, but not nearly enough, cleanups. I helped distribute trees when the Levelland Chamber hosted a free tree drive-through. Recently, I took the initiative, at the urging of Chamber members, to relocate and restore a 50-year-old LISD mosaic to the Central Office building, allowing the public to enjoy it during the City of Mosaics Tour. I also helped organize KLB in honoring our LISD Custodians on National Custodian Day last week, because they all help keep our schools beautiful. My next project is to restore the 1965 LISD Home of the Lobos Monument for everyone in town to enjoy. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside Mary Siders and Arra Delos Santos on many initiatives, and I look forward to many more opportunities Levelland has to offer its people and newcomers alike. I realize that it takes a village and I am so glad that my village is Levelland! I am proud to play a small role in keeping Levelland a thriving, active, and beautiful community." She continues, "I am both humbled and honored in receiving this KLB Hero Award. Thank you to my librarians and LISD family who were able to attend. And thank you so much to The Chamber's Keep Levelland Beautiful!"
