WFC @ AEP

AEP Administrator Laurie Jones shared exciting news as representatives from the Workforce Commission recently visited AEP students to discuss opportunities for career success after graduation. Career Counselor Monica Bordayo and Alama Perez provided students with valuable resources, including pamphlets and one-on-one guidance. They assisted with FAFSA applications, college registration forms, and career pathway planning. Students also learned about the Workforce Opportunity Act program, which meets weekly and is designed to help individuals gain employment. This program can offer gas assistance, rental support, clothing assistance, car repair options, and help with college tuition. Participants may receive paid work experience and training for up to 12 months at 100% coverage. Child Care Assistance is also available once employment begins. Additional services shared with students included ESL classes, GED classes, food boxes, job fairs, job readiness workshops, legal clinics, help with bonding and licensing fees, and assistance with purchasing glasses. One highlight was the virtual career goggles, which allow students to explore different career fields through simulations such as CNA surgery settings, firefighting, mechanics, lineman work, and more. We sincerely appreciate the Workforce Commission for taking the time to visit our campus and show students the many resources available to help them become successful and confident as they move forward after graduation. Mrs. Jones says, "There was truly something for everyone! Our students had many questions and they all took various program flyers. The program was extremely informational!"
